High-power, high-efficiency electric-discharge--pumped XeBr laser

The results of studies on XeBr laser output characteristics are reported. In this laser, HBr, BBr/sub 3/, and C/sub 2/F/sub 2/Br/sub 4/ are used as bromine donor. The maximum energy obtained is 6 mJ. the volume energy density and efficiency are 0.4 J/l, and 0.14% respectively. Finally, we prove a means of improving the lasing output level.
