Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/6163289· OSTI ID:6163289
The Federal Energy Administration and the American Association of School Administrators co-sponsored a project called Saving Schoolhouse Energy aimed at determining the cost effectiveness of retrofitting schools, principally with ''off-the-shelf'' hardware, to affect energy conservation. The results of a field investigation, computer simulation and evaluation of the energy conservation opportunities for an elementary school in Lincoln, Nebraska, are presented. It was estimated that at a cost of $10,000 airflow controls and night setback thermostat controls would have a payback period of six years. (LCL)
