PWR steam generator examination guidelines: Revision 2: Final report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6162853
PWR steam generator tubing has experienced damage from a wide variety of corrosion and mechanical mechanisms. During the early 1980s, EPRI and the Steam Generator Owners Group (SGOG) informally issued nondestructive evaluation (NDE) guidelines (the 1981 original and a 1984 revision) for the utility community. The purpose of these guidelines was to provide reliable NDE strategies for this diversity of damage mechanisms. With additional industry experience, increased understanding, and the emergence of new NDE technologies, an update and formal release of the guidelines has become appropriate. Based on plant experiences, new research data, and lessons learned from implementing the original guidelines, this revised document will allow utilities to achieve the maximum benefit from periodic steam generator examination. 5 refs., 133 figs., 25 tabs.
