High-resolution infrared spectroscopy using a temperature-controlled long-path absorption cell: The. nu. /sub 3/ band of uranium hexafluoride at 16. mu. m

Journal Article · · Appl. Spectrosc.; (United States)
High-resolution UF/sub 6/ absorption spectra at 16 ..mu..m have been obtained with the use of tunable diode lasers and a long-pathlength (approx.10/sup 3/-m) sample cell. The frequencies of the ..nu../sub 3/ Q-branch subband heads for both /sup 238/UF/sub 6/ and /sup 235/UF/sub 6/ have been determined, along with those for the (..nu../sub 3/+..mu../sub 6/)-..nu../sub 6/ ''hot-band'' transition. Band contour studies have been carried out as a function of temperature, and comparisons are made with previous work.
