Exploration techniques aided by computer tiering

Journal Article · · World Oil; (United States)

The advanced memory, networking capability and graphics proficiency of today's personal computers allows the explorationist to tap into a wealth of commercially available geological and geophysical data. This can then be coupled with any additional technical data available to the explorationist, resulting in a more thorough exploration process. Particularly important is that all of this data can now be tiered, or stacked, allowing correlation and manipulation of numerous independent data sets in a few days, instead of months. The following article details this tiering capability by going through the step-by-step process of choosing an exploration target in the central Williston basin.
