LLNL realistic phantom characteristics using coaxial n-type germanium detectors

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6155571
Closed-end coaxial n-type germanium detectors have been evaluated as an alternative to NaI(Tl) detectors for in vivo uranium lung burden analysis. Using anthropomorphic phantom torsos for study, detection limits have been established, sensitivity curves have been derived, the effects of chest wall thickness and composition have been measured, and optimal detector placement has been determined.
