Superfund Amendments of 1985. Report submitted to the House of Representatives, Ninety-Ninth Congress, First Session, October 31, 1985

Book ·
OSTI ID:6154860
The House Judiciary Committee's report on H.R. 2817, which amends the Superfund, approves the legislation with several designated changes affecting the taxing of revenues for the Superfund Fund and the settlement of claims against it. The report reviews the proposed amendments, the background on the programs since its 1980 passage, and two committee hearings on the legal and judicial issues involved. The report includes a section-by-section analysis. Current funding for the Fund comes primarily from a tax on crude oil and chemical feedstocks and by federal contributions. The amendments are a response to criticism of both the program and its implementation by the Environmental Protection Agency, particularly because of litigation due to ambiguous provisions.
