Search for new particles decaying to. lambda. (K/sup 0/)+ hadrons

A magnetic spark spectrometer has been used to search for new particles produced by neutrons with average energy 45 GeV and decaying by the channels ..lambda pi../sup +/, K/sup 0/(K-bar/sup 0/) ..pi../sup + -/, ..lambda pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/, and ..lambda..K/sup +/K/sup -/. Estimates are obtained for the upper limit of the partial cross sections for production of the charmed particles C/sup +/(2260) and D/sup + -/(1870) with relative momentum x>0.5: sigma/sub c/+ x BR (C/sup +/..--> lambda pi../sup +/) <2 x 10/sup -31/ cm/sup 2//nucleon, sigma/sub D/ +- x BR (D/sup + -/..mu..K/sup -/..pi../sup + -/) <2.5 x 10/sup -31/ cm/sup 2//nucleon.
