P-T-X phase relationships in the Cd-As system

P-T-X phase equilibria in Cd-As have been investigated by means of the total vapour-pressure measurements for compositions 66 to 100 at.% As. Incongruent sublimation and congruent melting behaviour of CdAs/sub 2/ were observed. A vapour-pressure maximum was registered in the threephase S(CdAs/sub 2/)S(As)V equilibrium. The maximum melting point of CdAs/sub 2/ was shown to be 900.5 K with the saturated vapour pressure 60 kPa. P-T-X co-ordinates are presented for the eutectic S(CdAs/sub 2/) + S(As) + liquid + vapour.
