Costs advance slowly despite building rebound

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)

OGJ-Morgan oil-pipeline cost indexes are discussed. One of the most interesting elements of 1984's cost picture was low price increases in the face of rising demand. The past year saw healthy increases in the volume of shipments for pipeline building projects, such as line pipe, fittings, pumps, motors, and fabricated steel plate for oil storage tanks. The major cost components are examined in the article: steel line pipe, pipe coating, pumping units and steel storage tanks. In future installments of the OGJ-Morgan oil-pipeline cost index series, quarterly index projections will be developed for 1985 for the 18 cost components of oil-pipeline construction.
