The two-day hearing was held to gather information on the organization and operation of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) because of the economic and energy challenges TVA is experiencing. The complexities of load forecasting and coal-procurement policy, construction costs, and other factors were raised during the course of the hearing. Among those giving testimony were representatives of Tennessee and other TVA states, TVA Directors and employees, TVA customers, and citizen groups.
