Title: Determination of the magnetic moment of the He/sup 3/ nucleus with an error of 2 x 10/sup -6/%

The ratio of the free-precession frequencies of helions (/sup 3/He nuclei) and protons was determined for a gaseous mixture of /sup 3/He and hydrogen: f/sub /sup 3//He/f/sub H/sub 2/=0.761 786 635(4). The screening constant of the helion was calculated allowing for the motion of the nucleus relative to the center of mass of the /sup 3/He atom: sigma/sub /sup 3//He=59.924(2) x 10/sup -6/. The difference sigma/sub H/sub 2/-sigma/sub H/sub 2/O/=0.596(13) x 10/sup -6/ at 21/sup 0/ C was determined experimentally and used to find the screening of the nuclei in hydrogen. The published data on the screening of protons in water gave sigma/sub H/sub 2/=26.535(19) x 10/sup -6/. These screening constants made it possible to determine the magnetic moment of the helion in units of the magnetic moment of the proton: ..mu../sub /sup 3//He/..mu../sub p/ =-0.761 812 070(16). Next, a comparison of the magnetic moments of the lightest nuclei and hyperfine splitting of the relevant atoms was used to find the constants of the hyperfine-structure anomalies characterizing the motion of an electron inside a nucleus.
