OSTI ID:6124202
An examination of the potential for irrigation in forest plantation in arid and semi-arid areas, this book reviews recent past experience, the range of inputs required, and the benefits of integrating tree plantations with irrigated agriculture. It provides a checklist of economic, sociological and technical criteria needed to guide decisions concerning the feasibility of such developments. Actions to be covered in the planning, implementation and operational phases of irrigated forest plantations are indicated, as are illustrative production levels and research needs. Closing chapters review effective approaches to economic analysis, management and planning.
