The multiphoton ionization spectra of dilute solutions (approx. <10/sup -3/ M) of benzene in tetramethylsilane (TMSi) and n-pentane (n-Pt) have been measured using linearly polarized light over the laser excitation wavelength (lambda/sub exc/) region from 360 to 560 nm. Spectra measured with circularly polarized light are also reported for 460
