After 12 years, the innovative 3P Program (Pollution Prevention Pays) has become a way of life at the 3M Company. With 2126 projects approved for designation as 3P Projects thus far, the company has racked up some impressive results. This article describes the origination of the program, the strategies used to promote awareness, the selection and implementation of specific projects, and the long-term benefits, economic as well as environmental.
