Acicular texture of the second kind in a BaO /times/ Ln/sub 2/O/sub 3/ /times/ 4TiO/sub 2/ ceramic

The component ratios for main-phase crystals in a film ceramic composed of barium lanthanoid tetratitanate are the same as those for the reported Ba/sub 3.75/Pr/sub 9.5/Ti/sub 18/O/sub 54/ compound. A ceramic film has an acicular texture of the second kind, with (010) as a preferred crystal growth direction, in contrast to an ordinary ceramic. Explanations have been proposed for the atomic-number dependence of the temperature coefficient for the dielectric constant of the ceramic with the barium lanthanoid tetratitanate structure as well as for the preferred orientation.
