Dwarf spheroidal galaxy in Draco. II. Galactic foreground reddening

Confident interpretation of the anomalous photometric properties of the Draco dwarf galaxy requires knowledge of the interstellar reddening in its direction. The reddening associated with the Galactic plane in this direction has been determined from observations on the uvby and H..beta.. photometric systems of foreground B-A-F stars. These observations indicate E (B-V) =0/sup m/.03 +- 0./sup m/01 to a z distance of 500 pc. This value is appropriate to the Galactic latitude and eliminates the possibility that some of Draco's photometric anomalies may be due to unexpectedly high reddening in the Galactic foreground.
