Effect of macroamounts of lanthanides on distribution of microamounts of europium in extraction with tributyl phosphate in presence of complexones

Extraction of traces of europium nitrate in presence of macroamounts of nitrates of lanthanum, neodymium, samarium, gadolinium, dysprosium, holmium, ytterbium, and lutecium has been studied. The extraction was effected with tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) in hexane in concentrations of 0.92, 1.47, and 2.20 mole x dm/sup /minus/3/ from 4.0 mole x dm/sup /minus/3/ lithium nitrate solutions in presence of 0.0123 mole x dm/sup /minus/3/ diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA). It was found that addition of a complex one to the aqueous phase raises the factors of separation of middle lanthanides from traces of europium roughly by 1.7-2.1 times.
