THE EXTRACTION OF THE LANTHANIDE ELEMENTS FROM PERCHLORIC ACID BY DI-(2- ETHYLHEXYL) HYDROGEN PHOSPHATE
The elements lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, lutetium, and yttrium were extracted from an aqueous perchlorate phase at different acidities into a solution of di-(2-ethylhexyl) hydrogen phosphate in toluene. Separation factors for all the elements of the lanthanide series were calculated, and the average value for nearest neighbors was found to be 2.40 plus or minus 0.87. The extraction behavior of yttrium was found to be between that of holmium and erbium. (auth)
