Low frequency resistance fluctuations in films of high temperature superconductors

Conference · · IEEE Trans. Magn.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6091751
Low frequency voltage fluctuations in thin films of YBa/sub 2/Cu/sub c/O/sub 7-x/ at and above the superconducting transition have a spectral density S/sub ..nu../(f) proportional to V-bar/sup 2//f, where V-bar is the average voltage across the film and f is the frequency. The value of S/sub ..nu../(f)/V-bar/sup 2/ decreases markedly as the microstructure of the films is improved. In contrast to classic superconductors, the noise at the resistive transition does not arise from equilibrium temperature fluctuations.
