Washington.--Three unsuccessful new-field wildcats were drilled. Total exploratory footage was 26,460. Oregon.--One unsuccessful new-field wildcat was drilled with a 6,146-ft exploratory hole. California.--A total of 1,995,812 ft of hole was drilled in 357 exploratory wells. The average depth per well was 5,591 ft. Eleven new fields (7 oil and 4 gas) were discovered. Exploratory drilling was 14.8 and 14.5% successful in number of wells and footage, respectively. Thirty-three core holes, 20 onshore and 13 offshore, were drilled for a total of 194,175 ft. Well completions, including development wells, were 2,656, up 263 from 1966. Crude production was 359 million bbl, natural gas production was 681 Bcf, and natural gas liquids were 19.8 million bbl.
