This paper reports on Super-GM which is conducting basic designs of 70 MVA superconducting generators and developing superconductors, for establishing the application technology of superconducting generators. For generators, it is intended to develop a slow response excitation type generator with emphasis placed on stability, higher current density for enhancement of characteristics, and a quick response excitation type generator pursuing the reduction of AC loss for enhancing the excitation speed. In the development of superconductors, three kinds of NbTi field windings to be used for these superconducting generators were designed, and developed with targets set for the conductor size, critical current, AC loss, void fraction, etc.
