Inflatable seal test bladders - foil permeation barrier and steel mesh reinforced - test report

This report documents the results of tests conducted at 250/sup 0/F and 350/sup 0/F on EPDM elastomer inflatable test bladders containing either an aluminum foil gas permeation barrier or a steel mesh reinforcing fabric. Gas leakage values showed little decrease due to the incorporation of the metal foil. The test articles proved difficult to fabricate because of the stiff steel mesh and foil and delamination at the metal-elastomer interfaces occurred due to the 4000 hour exposure to 250/sup 0/F/350/sup 0/F environment.
