The solubilization of a 0.5% sodium chloride solution with a decane solution of sodium petroleum sulfonate was used as an example to study the distribution of ethyl, isopropyl, n-propyl, and tert-butyl alcohols between the aqueous phase, the hydrocarbon phase, and the interface. It is shown that n-propyl and more hydrophilic alcohols are distributed primarily between the aqueous phase and the adsorption layer, while tert-butyl and more hydrophobic alcohols are distributed primarily between the hydrocarbon phase and the adsorption layer.
