The July 1985 and March 1986 radon intercomparisons at EML (Environmental Measurements Laboratory)

This report summarizes the results of the July 1985 and March 1986, the ninth and tenth, radon intercomparison exercises held at the Environmental Measurements Laboratory. Twenty-eight organizations including US Federal facilities, national and state laboratories, universities, commercial facilities and non-US laboratories participated in these exercises. The results indicate that the majority of the participants were within +-25% of the nominal value at a /sup 222/Rn concentration level of 70 pCi L/sup -1/. Observations regarding the reliability of several sampler types and the most common sources of measurement and calculation errors are also enumerated.
