Oil dealers swim with the tide. [Solar installations by oil dealers]

Northeast fuel oil dealers are shifting into solar installation as part of a DOE-sponsored effort to commercialize solar energy in the region. A series of seminars and intensive courses has been held to train dealers on correct solar installation methods and to help them establish a secondary business. The oil dealers already have a business base and established relationships with customers and would need little additional investment. One dealer is critical of the solar industry's engineering, but improvements in solar technology should enable the dealers to participate in the transition to renewable energy sources as fuel oil supplies dwindle.
