Norway may build gas trunkline

Journal Article · · Offshore; (United States)
OSTI ID:6069442
It is becoming increasingly likely that the Norwegians will opt to build a major new North Sea gas trunkline which will not include gas from the Statfjord Field. Statfjord will probably have a separate gas transport system. Utilization of existing pipelines and construction of a new trunkline is being assessed together with alternative markets and landing sites. This includes reporting on whether it will be possible to use enough gas in Norway to make a Norwegian landfall viable. The role of the governments, Statoil and foreign companies, in the financing and organization of the pipeline also is being evaluated, together with the possibility of cooperation with other countries. Two alternative pipeline routes are mapped.
