The Norwegians have started the second phase of Norway's offshore development. Two major Norwegian operators, Statoil and Norsk Hydro, are well into the design phase of major field developments. Statoil is set to reclaim operatorship of the giant Statfjord field from Mobil Norway, which has almost finished development. Saga, smallest of the three Norwegian sisters, is still some distance from an operatorship off Norway but already has operator status off West Africa. The activities of the Norwegians in developing the offshore oil fields are discussed.
