Photoionization model for the emission of the Crab filaments, and their spread in composition

Photoionization models are worked out for three groups of Crab Nebula filaments whose spectra typify the diverse emission-line intensity ratios measured in individual condensations. In each case the computed intensities match the values observed. The filaments exhibit a genuine spread in composition. 17 references.
