Comments on some spectrograms of the Crab nebula

The implications of some spectrograms of the ionized gas in the Crab nebula, including regions in a bright filament and in the northern ''jet'' are presented. Some of the gas in the faint jet is probably about as dense as in the brighter filaments, and may be in the form of small unresolved blobs or filaments. An emission line near 4660 A in the spectrum of the jet is somewhat puzzling because of its relatively large intensity. The (S II) temperature in the bright filament seems low enough to be consistent with photoionization models.
