Fourth-generation effect on /ital CP/ violation in /ital B//r arrow//ital K//phi/ decays

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)
/ital CP/-violating asymmetries in the /ital B//r arrow//ital K//phi/ decays are studied in the four-generation model. The absorptive part in the penguin amplitude leads to the /ital CP/-violating asymmetry in the /ital B//sub /ital U///sup +-//r arrow/K/sup +-//phi/ decays, which could be as large as +-15% in the four-generation model, although it is at most a few percent in the three-generation model. The asymmetry between the /ital B//sub /ital d///sup 0//r arrow/K/sub S//sup 0//phi/ and /ital B/bar ///sub /ital d///sup 0//r arrow/K/sub S//sup 0//phi/ decays is also expected to be +-10% on UPSILON(4/ital S/) through the penguin absorptive part with the contribution of the fourth-generation quark.
