Using separable potential equations to model the /ital T/=0,/ital J/=1/2 ..lambda../ital NN/ three-body system, we explore the effects of..lambda../ital N/-..sigma../ital N/ coupling in the ground state of the hypertriton. Explicit..lambda../ital N/-..sigma../ital N/ coupling in the hyperon-nucleon interaction is shown toplay a significant role, even in this lightly bound system. When the ..sigma../ital N/channel is formally eliminated, the dispersive energy dependence of theresulting ..lambda../ital N/ effective interaction is repulsive whereas the resulting..lambda../ital NN/ three-body force is attractive.
