Hyperfine structure of /sup 151,153/Eu/sup +/ in the state 4f/sup 7/(/sup 8/S/sup o/)5d /sup 9/D/sub 4//sup o/ by collinear laser-rf double resonance
An apparatus has been constructed for laser--radio-frequency double-resonance studies of very-low-energy-ion beams with collinear laser-ion geometry. The ion energy of only 1--2 keV leads to extremely narrow linewidths (approx.60 kHz). This paper describes measurements of the hyperfine structure of /sup 151/Eu/sup +/ and /sup 153/Eu/sup +/ in the level 4f/sup 7/( /sup 8/S/sup o/)5d /sup 9/D/sub 4//sup o/. The hyperfine constants A and B have been determined with a much higher accuracy than before. The present values of these constants (in MHz) are A/sub //sub <151/Eu/sup =/ = 113.159(1), B/sub //sub <151/Eu/sup =/ = -215.356(10), A/sub //sub <153/Eu/sup =/ = -50.415(1), and B/sub //sub <153/Eu/sup =/ = -548.357(10). .AE
