The authors studied the complexes CpFe(CO)/sub 2/-Co(CO)/sub 4/, CpFe(CO)/sub 2/-Fe(CO)/sub 2/Cp, and Ph/sub 2/C/sub 2/Co/sub 2/(CO)/sub 6/, supported on /gamma/-Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/, in CO hydrogenation. The catalytic properties of the supported complexes were studied in a catalytic flow microunit; this was provided with a quartz reactor of special construction that permitted the catalyst prepared in situ. The organometallic carbonyl complexes were deposited from solution in n-pentane at room temperature with a syringe. Products were determined by chromatography: CO/sub 2/, olefins, and C/sub 2/-C/sub 3/ paraffins were determined on a column of Porapak Q; CO, and CH/sub 4/ on a column of BAU activated charcoal. Product yield was calculated on CO reacted. It was found that the CO hydrogenation catalyst obtained by deposition of the CpFe(CO)/sub 2/-Co(CO)/sub 4/ complex on /gamma/-Al/sub 2/O/sub 3/ has the hybrid properties of catalysts containing Co and Fe. It cannot be obtained by simultaneous application of the monometallic carbonyls.
