Damage and oxidation protection in high temperature composites. Vol. 2; Proceedings of the Symposium, 112th ASME Winter Annual Meeting, Atlanta, GA, Dec. 1-6, 1991

Conference ·
OSTI ID:6048443
The present volume on damage and oxidation protection in metal and ceramic composites discusses control of toughness in composites through control of strength of fiber/matrix interfaces, modeling fatigue crack growth in fibrous composites, local fields in uncoated and coated high-temperature fibrous composite systems, and viscoplasticity theory for matrix-dominated deformation of metal matrix composites. Also discussed are a study of microplasticity of whisker reinforced SiC/Al composites, the elastic properties of Al[sub 2]O[sub 3]/Al composites, and the mechanical behavior of silicon carbide reinforced aluminum cast composites.
