(/sup 7/Li,/sup 8/Be) reaction on /sup 40/Ca

The (/sup 7/Li,/sup 8/Be) reaction has been shown to be useful for studying proton pickup. States in /sup 39/K have been studied at E/sub Li/ = 34 MeV using a /sup 8/Be detection system. Measured angular distributions from approximately 20/sup 0/ to 60/sup 0/ in the center of mass have been analyzed with finite range distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations in order to determine spectroscopic strengths. The data are compared with the results of another pickup reaction.
