This patent describes a silencer apparatus for an internal combustion engine including a carburetor having an air intake. The apparatus consists of an air silencer communicating with the air intake and has a lower end including a sump in which fluid can accumulate. It is connected to the engine and extends to the sump for purging the sump of fluid only in response to engine operation.
