Characteristics of receiving transducers for acoustic emission. I. Theory

Based on a representation of a receiving transducer for acoustic emission as a steady-state, dynamic system, the conversion of traveling-wave packets into electrical signals is considered for a transducer having finite dimensions. The properties of the receiving transducer are described by means of complex frequency-wave and geometrical characteristics. Methods are discussed for certifying transducers as well as means for their metrological security.
