Inorganic oxidizer salt explosives of the aqueous slurry type contain an oxidizer-fuel system. Such explosives have high energy, sensitivity, fluidity, and detonation rate properties at unexpectedly low temperature levels. Inorganic oxidizer salt explosives of the aqueous slurry type have had extensive use in the explosive industry in recent years. These explosives comprise an inorganic oxidizer salt, water, a fuel, a separate sensitizer if needed, and a thickener. They are generally gelled by the presence of a gelling agent, as a thickener, often cross-linked by a suitable cross- linking agent incorporated into the formulation. The method for manufacture of the explosives under ambient temperature conditions utilizes 2 separate solutions each having a crystallization temperature below the ambient temperature. This eliminates the need for elevated mixing and solution temperatures utilized heretofore. (23 claims)
