The ORGDP environmental management plans encompass strategies that are set forth in the Martin Marietta Energy Systems' management plan and in mandates from the Tennessee Department of Health and Environment (TDHE) and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Coordination and monitoring of environmentally related activities and functions at the ORGDP are performed by the Environmental Management Department. Currently, the department employs ten people (includes 2 clerical staff) to provide this service. Adherence to applicable regulations and policies is monitored by department personnel. Areas of responsibility include air pollution control, water pollution control, solid waste management, and project review and coordination.
