Estimated proved oil and gas reserves, Gulf of Mexico, December 31, 1992. Final report, January-December 1992

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6038758
The report includes the proved remaining recoverable reserves in the Gulf of Mexico Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) as of December 31, 1992 which have been estimated to be 2.37 billion barrels of oil (including crude oil and condensate) and 19.5 trillion cubic feet of gas. These reserves are recoverable from 730 proved active fields located in Federal waters. There are an additional 67 unproved active fields with no reserves estimates, for a total of 797 active fields in Federal waters. The proved original recoverable reserves are estimated to have been 11.08 billion barrels of oil and 132.7 trillion cubic feet of gas from 835 proved fields in the same geographic area. Included in this number are 105 fields that are depleted and abandoned; not included are the 67 unproved active fields. Estimates were made for individual reservoirs based on geologic mapping and reserve evaluation of 576 fields. Preliminary geologic studies were conducted for the remaining 259 fields. For purposes of the publication, only proved reserves will be reported.
