Process for simultaneously removing nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, and particulates

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6032591

A gas purification process is described comprising the steps of: simultaneously removing nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, and particulates in a common vessel from a gaseous stream containing nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, and particulates, the sulfur oxide-capturing and particulate-removing material is selected from the group consisting essentially of adsorbers and adsorbers with least one promoter. The adsorbers comprise an oxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of aluminum, bismuth, manganese, yttrium, antimony, tin, rare earth metals, Group 1a metals, and Group 2a metals, the nitrogen oxides are substantially removed by a nitrogen oxide-capturing reducing agent, simultaneously removing the particulates and sulfur-containing deposits from the spent material in a regenerator while converting the sulfur-containing deposits to hydrogen sulfide in the regenerator, feeding the regenerated material directly from the regenerator to the bed in the vessel without substantially heating, cooling, or tempering the regenerated material.
