Measurement of the ratio [ital scrB]([ital D][sup +][r arrow][pi][sup 0][ital l+][nu])/[ital scrB]([ital D][sup +][r arrow][ital [bar K]][sup 0][ital l+][nu])

Using the CLEO-II detector, the branching ratio of the Cabibbo suppressed decay [ital D][sup +][r arrow][pi][sup 0][ital l+][nu], relative to the branching ratio of the Cabibbo favored decay [ital D][sup +][r arrow][ital [bar K]][sup 0][ital l+][nu], is measured to be [ital B]([ital D][sup +][r arrow][pi][sup 0][ital l+][nu])/[ital B]([ital D][sup +][r arrow][ital [bar K]][sup 0][ital l+][nu]) =(8.5[plus minus]2.7[plus minus]1.4)%. From this ratio, the product of the ratio of Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix elements, [vert bar][ital V][sub [ital c][ital d]]/[ital V][sub [ital c][ital s]][vert bar][sup 2], and the form factors at [ital q][sup 2]=0, [vert bar][ital f][sub +][sup [pi]](0)/[ital f][sub +][sup [ital K]](0)[vert bar][sup 2], is determined to be [vert bar][ital V][sub [ital c][ital d]]/[ital V][sub [ital c][ital s]][vert bar][sup 2][vert bar][ital f][sub +][sup [pi]](0)/[ital f][sub +][sup [ital K]](0)[vert bar][sup 2] =0.085[plus minus]0.027[plus minus]0.014.
