Geographical studies are being made of the Appalachian and Michigan Basins, Gulf Coast salt domes, Permian Basin bedded salt, East Coast Triassic Shale Basin and Gulf Coast clays, volcanic rocks, and crystalline rocks. Research in argillaceous and crystalline materials and the cooperative field testing program in Sweden are reported on. Technical support projects include studies on heat transfer/thermal analysis, waste/rock interaction, rock mechanics, borehold plugging, and safety and reliability. Field testing projects include shale in-situ tests, dome salt in-situ tests, cooperative program in Sweden, and Nevada Test Site in-situ tests. (LK)
