Energy resources in Colorado: coal, oil shale, and uranium. [contains glossary]

Book ·
OSTI ID:6021402
Colorado is endowed with large deposits of coal, oil shale, and uranium, and there is considerable interest both in and outside the state in the extensive development of these resources. Large-scale production of coal, oil shale, and uranium, however, will result in complex changes in Colorado's social and physical environment. An understanding of the technologies and issues associated with development is thus necessary before effective mitigating policies and actions can take place. This book provides current information about coal, oil shale, and uranium resources in Colorado, as well as the potential impact of the technologes associated with their development. Additional information is included in the following appendices: coal mines in Colorado; oil shale leasing program tracts and reserves; status of commercial oil shale projects as of May 1978; nuclear energy fundamentals; uranium operations in Colorado; licensing references pertaining to Colorado uranium milling; and uranium fuel cycle-reactor requirements. An extensive glossary is included.
