Book ·
OSTI ID:5285010
The handbook focuses on oil shale as a potential energy source of the future. It specifically will provide policy makers in Colorado with current and factual data on the oil shale resources of the state and on the technological, environmental, and socio-economic impacts associated with the development of the industry. After the introductory chapter on the nature of the resource, the following are included: oil shale mining methods, shale oil processing, commercial development considerations, manpower requirements, environmental considerations, socio-economic considerations, shale oil production constraints, and concerns for the future. An extensive bibliography precedes three appendices--Federal oil shale leases, surface retort processes, and shale oil plant cost estimates. (MCW)
