Stimulated IR emission of Nd/sup 3 +/ ions in nonstoichiometric cubic fluorides

This paper is devoted to the stimulated-emission spectroscopy of Nd/sub 3//sup +/ ions in the IR region corresponding to two lasing channels in disordered fluorite phases based on CdF/sub 2/, and the trifluorides of gadolinium and lutetium. Synthesis conditions are found and single crystals of the nonstoichiometricfluorides Cd /SUB 1-x/ (Gd,Lu) /SUB x/ F /SUB 2+x/ with Nd/sup 3 +/ ions and a fluorite structure are grown. Stimulated emission of the activator ions are excited in these phases at 300 degrees K in two lasing channels.
