Single-crystal Cd /SUB 1-x/ Sc /SUB x/ F /SUB 2+x/ with Nd/sup 3 +/ ions and its stimulated emission

This paper has found growth conditions and for the first time single crystals of Cd /SUB 1-x/ Sc /SUB x/ F /SUB 2+x/ -Nd/sup 3 +/ grown of a disordered structure by melt crystallization. Using the technique of lamp pumping, a low-threshold stimulated emission was excited on the wave channels /sup 4/F /SUB 3/2/ , /sup 4/I /SUB 11/2/ and /sup 4/F /SUB 3/2/ , /sup 4/I /SUB 13/2/ of their activator ions, and the basic parameters were studied. The Nd/sup 3 +/ spectra for the nonstoichiometric phases studied differ from the Nd/sup 3 +/ spectrum of ordered CaF/sub 2/.
