A wear equation for epoxy bonded MoS2 solid lubricant coating

Wear tests have been conducted on specimens of epoxy-bonded MoS2 and solid graphite lubricant coatings (0.5-2 mm thick) commonly used in machine-tool guideways and slide bearings in order to obtain an expression for calculating the wear volume. Test results have been processed by regressive analysis, and an empirical wear equation has been obtained suitable for applications where plane contact and specific pressure are less than 10 kgf/sq cm.
