Modern methods and equipment for dewatering coal flotation deposits
The Ninth International Coal Cleaning Congress, held in India in late 1982, was attended by represenatives from 19 of the world coal-producing countries. There were 38 papers for discussion, from 16 countries, including four from the USSR. An international exhibition of coal-cleaning equipment was staged to coincide with the Congress. The Congress discussed the most urgent current problems, the basic trends of research into coal as a material that requires cleaning, the latest flowsheets and washery schemes, new methods of cleaning coals in general and fines in particular, plant automation, product quality control, process optimization, and other topics. Major interest was shown in the prospects for increased coal-cleaning throughputs in the large coal-producing countries. The conclusion to be drawn from the Congress and Exhibition are that the use of belt-type vacuum filters and filter presses or improved centrifuges makes it possible to operate the flotation process more widely, promotes a reduction of coal losses in washery wastes and an improvement of water-slurry flowsheets, and finally improves the technical-economic performances indices for cleaning processes. 4 figures.
